Kyokushin Kan Kicks (Geri)

September 10th, 2008 ·

Argh, this post is a bit late. I was supposed to post this yesterday but after I got home from my Karate session, I laid down to get some rest. Funny thing was, I fell down sleep - the next minute it was morning!

Anyhow, here it is Kyokushin Kan geris…

What we’ve done so far
  • Hiza geri (Knee kick)
  • Kin geri (Groin kick)
  • Mae geri (Front kick)
  • Mawashi geri (Roundhouse kick)
  • Kakato geri (Heel kick)
  • Ago jodan geri (High kick to the chin)
  • Yoko geri (Side kick)
  • Ushiro geri (Backwards kick)
  • Oroshi soto kakato geri (Downwards outside heel kick - axe kick)
  • Oroshi uchi kakato geri (Downwards inside heel kick - axe kick)
Other Kyokushin Kan kicks
  • Age kakato ushiro geri (Rising heel backwards kick)
  • Jodan uchi haisoku geri (Upper inside instep kick to jaw)
  • Kake geri (Hooking kick)
  • Kansetsu geri (Joint kick)
  • Ushiro mawashi geri (Reverse roundhouse kick)

I still don’t get the part where you twist your hips to get more power to your kicks. The axe kick was easy for me though, I can get my feet head level and can move it around, inside or outside. Other than that, I’m still workin’ on it ;-)
